Graduate ProgramsThe University of Nebraska–Lincoln (UNL) offers several food-related Master’s Degree and PhD graduate programs in a variety of academic disciplines. Many of these programs are interdisciplinary. Many of these programs are interdisciplinary. Online and Distance EducationUNL offers a variety of undergraduate courses and programs for on-campus and distance students, including food-related courses. UNL’s Extended Education and Outreach (EE&O) offers independent study through open enrollment, semester-based, and summer courses. Meat Culinology ® Certificate Program | Youth ProgramsVarious food-related programs are available to youth through UNL extension activities. These often include partnering with other organizations. 4-H4-H is a community of young people across America who are learning leadership, citizenship and life skills. Youth ages 5-19 who are involved in the 4-H program are uniquely prepared to step up to the challenges of a complex, changing world. The 4-H Youth Development Program is sponsored by the University of Nebraska–Lincoln Extension and is supported by volunteer leaders, local government, the Nebraska 4-H Foundation, the land-grant university system, and the United States Department of Agriculture. 4-H food-related Resources ProStartProStart is a two year program for high school juniors and seniors interested in a career in foodservice and the hospitality industry. Students delve into everything from management skills, the preparation of soups and sauces to sanitation, accounting, inventory control and customer service. ProStart is offered in many high schools through their Family and Consumer Science department; check with your high school department for further information. Mentoring, skill development and help with competitions is provided by UNL staff.
